    S.L.A.T.E. Pop-Up Shop @ AK1511
  • Objectives:

    Create a pop-up shop in IHC's event space, AK1511, as a value-add for S.L.A.T.E. and its key exhibitor brands.
  • Strategy:

    Invited select S.L.A.T.E. brands to participate in monthlong pop-up shop cycles, giving brands westside Los Angeles exposure & dedicated retail space, and giving S.L.A.T.E. positive press and increasing show awareness before the February 2010 season. IHC redesigned its event space to become a fully functioning retail store; created custom racks, dressing rooms and display units; trained and managed full-time retail staff; assisted brands in merchandising, creating custom storefront graphics, promoting, and producing in-store events.
  • Result:

    Created multiple pop-ups featuring Orisue clothing, Aerial7 headphones, 9Five eyewear, XLARGE clothing, Han Cholo jewelry, ClAW Money eyewear, and Peasants & Travelers luggage, as well as art exhibits from We Are Plus (international artist series of custom turntable slipmats) and Rony Alwin (celebrity photographer). Pop-up sales were strong and both the shop and the events IHC held with the brands generated significant positive press for the brands and for S.L.A.T.E. As a result, brands were attracted to S.L.A.T.E. that had not shown before, and IHC is continuing the pop-up shop independently due to outside brand interest.
