S.L.A.T.E. February 2010
Objectives:
IHC provides creative consulting, design and execution services for MAGIC’s S.L.A.T.E. tradeshow. Services include graphic design show promotion, exhibitor partnership management, onsite asset creation, event staging, offsite venue partnership, and social media management for S.L.A.T.E. This season, the show's new Mandalay Bay location deserved new, expanded onsite, online and event services.
Strategy:
Along with its standard decor, landscaping and signage creation services, IHC worked with MAGIC to rebrand the show, brought in musical and visual artists, coordinated brand partnerships, oversaw show floor day-to-day, organized the opening event, and created and maintained S.L.A.T.E. social networking sites.
Result:
By the time of the show, IHC had established a significant online presence for S.L.A.T.E., and the show itself was well received by exhibitors, attendees and client. Both show and party received huge positive press in the streetwear and industry communities. Pre-show, IHC designed and created graphic elements (web and print ad, online banners, website graphics); created and updated S.L.A.T.E. show blog (posting brands, show and event news & photos); created and actively updated @SLATEatMAGIC Twitter account; and created and maintained S.L.A.T.E. show Facebook account. Onsite, IHC coordinated brand partnerships and collab items with strong mix of top & emerging brands, including: Antenna Magazine (media coverage), Mighty Healthy (photobooth), XLARGE (show bags), Elm Co. (custom caps), Cardboard Robot (custom tees), Ubiquity Records (listening station and free music download cards), Flud Watch (video game station), MATW (claw arcade game) and L-R-G (phone charging station). IHC also recruited DJs from S.L.A.T.E. brands to spin oniste, and brought in photo exhibit and show photographer Rony Alwin (Rony's Photobooth). IHC planned and executed the official opening party at the Hard Rock's new venue Vanity, from recruiting event sponsors Complex, G-Shock, Belvedere and Aerial7 and full roster of talent (DJs Josh Madden and Neil Armstrong) to coordinateing event elements (logo branding, video reel, liquor delivery, gift bags, seating). Event resulted in record attendance of over 1500 including streetwear, action sport & pop culture stars.
